Frequently asked questions
How do I play chess with a friend?
Open Chess, choose a friend as your opponent, set the clock and create the invitation. Send the link, or invite someone you have played before directly in the app. Two people can also play on one device.
Can I play chess against the computer?
Yes. Choose Easy, Normal or Hard, or set a custom strength from 400 to 2800 rating. Lessons, a daily puzzle and game review help you improve.
Is there a chess rating?
Yes. Rated games use the Elo system and every player starts at 1400. Turn off "Affect ranking" for a friendly game. On the weekly leaderboard a win earns 3 points and a draw 1.
Which time controls can I use?
Quick games of 1, 3 or 5 minutes, or a custom clock of up to 180 minutes. The time can count for the whole game or per move, and a Fischer increment of 1 to 10 seconds per move is available. The server keeps the time.
Is JoinPal free?
Yes. Every game is free to play. Optional extras, such as board and piece designs, can be bought with Telegram Stars or with coins you earn by playing. Roulette uses virtual chips only; there is no real money in JoinPal.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Today JoinPal runs inside Telegram as a Mini App, on phones and computers, so there is nothing else to install: open @Joinpalbot and tap Play. You sign in with your Telegram account. More ways to play are planned.
Which languages does JoinPal support?
13 languages: English, Persian, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Hindi, Spanish, French, German, Russian, Ukrainian, Brazilian Portuguese, Indonesian and Vietnamese. Persian and Arabic are shown right to left.
